Your attitudes are as outdated as your physical demenor infers. You can have any opionion you want but unless you truly immerse yourself into a learning experience your opionions are . . . limited. You should be quiet until you know 'of which you speak'. V

Excuse me, but most here have negated the idea that 70% want to know what is happening in their lives daily.or monthly. Keeping in track with their lives. Clarifying nuances. Sharpening the edge. I applaud you.
It is a difficult course to navigate the obstacles of life, and plot a strategy that has substance.
Everyone would like to know their strengths, and weaknesses. That makes them more viable in the marketplace!

Traditional Chinese Medicine has its origin in ancient Taoist philosophy which views a person as an energy system in which body and mind are unified, each influencing and balancing the other. Unlike allopathic medicine which attempts to isolate and separate disease from a person, Chinese Medicine emphasizes a holistic approach that treats the whole person. Many people have found Traditional Chinese methods of healing to be excellent tools for maintaining optimum health and preventing illness.
Today in most western cultures acupuncture is considered a new alternative medicine. In reality acupuncture and its related moxibustion are practiced medical treatments that are over 5,000 years old.
Very basically, acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles, sometimes in conjunction with electrical stimulus on the body's surface, in order to influence physiological functioning.
Acupuncture can also be used in conjunction with heat produced by burning specific herbs, which is called Moxibustion. In addition, a non-invasive method of massage therapy, called acupressure, can also be effective.
The first record of acupuncture is found in the 4,700 year old Huang Di Nei Jing (Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine). This is known to be the oldest medical textbook in the world. It is said to have been written down from even earlier theories by Shen Nung, the father of Chinese Medicine. Shen Nung documented theories about circulation, pulse, and the heart over 4,000 years before European medicine had any concept about them.
As the basis of acupuncture, Shen Nung discovered that the body has an energy force running throughout it. This energy force is known as Qi. The Qi consists of all essential life activities which include the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical aspects of life. A person's health is influenced by the flow of Qi in the body.
I offer that you must seek knowledge before you make such broad statements.
Respectfully submitted ..

Mr Robotic~By all means let me tell you that I am not a stupid person.I am a paralegal who holds a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. I study the metaphysical because it dates back to the ancient times and if you do your homework you will understand that it also dates back to biblical days.So before you start telling everyone that they are ignorant you really need to clean your own doorstep first...No pun intended.

Maybe you need to get with the current times because there are more metaphysical activity than you realize. You know we have so much more updated things here in the year 2007 and we are so much more open about these kind of things. You should not be so judgemental of people and their choices in life.

I just made a preliminary chart on robotic using his age, sign, and Houston as his birthplace. This is not an accurate chart for the inner planets, but because the outer planets move slower, things can be viewed. His stark bluntness is because Sagittarius is his ascendant. He means no harm with his banter, and has been a serious, traditional person since birth. He likes sports and outdoor activities. His Jupiter opposite Saturn makes him a restless person that may tend to make him slow and methodical at tasks, and urged to quicken his pace,or mistake prone because he rushes too fast. Astrology allows you to rule the stars on your natal chart, not be ruled by them.

Gosh, are you still at it Robotic? LOL. Of course you are. Not ready to open to the possibilities the universe is providing for you. Too bad. I'd like to challenge you to an experiment though. So let's see if you're up to it. Let me know

All religion, all superstition, all such beliefs in things which can't be proved by repeatability is stupid nonsense.
Any scientist worthy of the name never invokes the supernatural into his science. If he did he would be laughed out of his profession, ignored, given the cold shoulder and lose any funding he might ever get.
I simply do not understand how or why some otherwise seemingly intelligent people appear to believe such stuff.

I am a third generation psychic.I have lived with this ability all my life.It is about as difficult to understand as being gay or lesbian.Could you imagine always knowing how someone truly feels about you or feeling the emotions of everyone you meet.It feels like your crazy because you see, hear and feel things that you know you shouldn't.I would rather be crazy sometimes.I have not quite figured out if its a gift or a curse yet.

The title of this thread is 'Astrology is Hogwash', in the 'Astrology and Metaphysics' forum. So why are most/all of the posts about alternative medicine? Because in his first post Robotic2000 lumped alternative medicine together with metaphysics as concepts he abhors. .
For those of us who actually want to discuss astrology -- how it "works" in the sense of having predictive value, I'm starting a new thread: Is Astrology Predictive?. And another, Scientific Basis of Astrology, to discuss studies done to correlate astrology with behaviour and/or events (e.g. Carl Jung's work). .

Sun sign magazine astrology is hogwash. Having your chart done by a competent professional, based on your time and place of birth, using all of the planets, is not.
Of course many people expect Astrology to tell them the future. Rather it describes conditions, and it is still up to you what you do with them. The individual manifestation of those conditions depends on your spiritual development and (if you believe in such things) any "contracts" you may have made, as well as prevailing conditions in your part of the world.
I practice astrology part-time, and while I can tell you HOW you will get along with another person, and what life areas and issues will be emphasized in a relationship, I can't tell you IF that relationship is going to happen. Ethical astrologers will gladly make that distinction. We are NOT fortune tellers. I think of what I do as more assessment of potentials and empowerment than anything else - and hogwash or not, I have helped more people more quickly using astrology than I ever did in my 10+ years as a tradtional counselor. My own astrologer has given me excellent information.
Re: Alternative medicine - errors in medication nearly killed both my grandmother and my father at different times. (Good Grief, have you NEVER seen "House"???!!!) If I had relied on tradtional medicine after I was hit by a car in 2001, I'd be a pill-popping junkie right now.
Traditional medicine believes that it can kill what ails you by putting poisen in the body, there is nothing healing about it. Instead, it suppresses the body's own attempts to heal itself, therby making matters worse in the long run. Alot like having to rebuild the engine because you refuse ot change the oil.
I have tried many things and have had excellent results with massage therapy, cranio-sacral therapy (the ONLY thing that helped brain damage from my accident) accupuncture(I had more movement in my neck after one treatment than I had had in 20 years, and no, it wasn't in my head because I didn't go there looking to fix my neck)and some interesting experiences with energy medicine, ala Donna Eden. (I met her)
I had numerous surgeries as a child and I am convinced that tradtional medcine is toxic and deadly. My beliefs are based on both study and experience -

All I know is this folks....4 years ago I learned that I had inoperable (non cancerous) tumors on the main artery to your brain and heart. People my age usually die with such a late diagnosis. Modern medicine tried but failed. I was against taking herbs and such because I really believed 'my Doctors' at the Mayo Clinic could save me. Well...I started taking Cat Claw (basically tree bark) and now I'm fine. I don't understand how anyone can judge something they either know nothing about or haven't experienced. Being judge mental with no basis is asinine.
